Hong Kong!

Hello friends and family,

We are writing live from Hong Kong! Our flight from Vancouver was very smooth and we had a lovely send-off from friends and sisters. It was surreal to finally be at the airport after months of anticipation and many days packing and checking off our to-do lists.

Our only hiccup was that Yarrow threw up right in front of the security check-point people in Vancouver. Fortunately, she had very accurate aim and everything was contained in a security belongings bin...Very embarassing. She has recovered well from the Vancouver GI Upset - not sure what will happen to her in Nepal at this rate!

We slept for most of the flight and arrived in Hong Kong well rested and ready for a day of adventure. We took a train into downtown HK and explored the streets, taking in the local sights and enjoying a beer and delicious meal. We also stumbled across a labyrinth which we walked, and wandered down several very narrow alleyways crowded with street vendors.

We're very glad we made the most of our 12-hour layover in Hong Kong and are now sitting in the airport waiting for our flight to Kathmandu. Yarrow and I will be starting work tomorrow (May 2nd) at the APS Kendra Birth Centre - we'll be jet-lagged but are excited to begin!

We're very thankful for our wonderful send-off, and for the love and support we received from all of you as we prepared for this journey. We hope to post some pictures of our Hong Kong adventure when we arrive in Kathmandu.

Namaste and love to everyone,

Lauren and Yarrow
